Berlin is over 775 years old city full of contrasts, history, landmarks, art and life. At the end of World War II, more than 40% of the town was bombed. However, after the war, a new metropolis was built, and an artificial embankment was created from the rubble of houses, reaching 115 m. It became the highest "mountain" of Berlin and was named Teufelsberg. The turbulent history combines elements of the West and the East culture, which create the unique character and atmosphere of the city. From the beginning, Berlin was known for its tolerance that has not changed over the years. It is best reflected on mix of the various cultures around the city. The most numerous minority are the Turks (more than 25%) who brought their favourite cuisines such as kebab here, which quickly became a traditional food and even surpassed the popular Curry-wurst. The traditional beverage that can only be produced in Berlin is Berliner Weisse, a beer flavoured with raspberry or herbal syrup.
