The town Frantiskovy Lazne (Francis Spa) was founded in 1793 and was named after its founder Emperor Francis I. The first SPA was opened shortly afterwards by Dr Adler. The water from the local springs was used not only by the locals but also by people from a wide area around Frantiskovy Lazne. The spring water was distributed to the area of Frantiskovy Lazne by women, who were scooping, transporting and reselling it. The most famous spring is the “Francis spring “, which used to be sold over the whole of Germany as the healthiest spring in the whole of Europe. Nowadays, you can find 20 mineral springs in Frantiskovy Lazne with an average temperature ranging from 9 to 11°C and are mainly used to treat locomotive functions.

The Frantiskovy Lazne offers large beautiful English styled parks and many orchards, in which are located Colonnades that offer a peaceful and quiet relaxation. Equally far, but more to the west in the 12th-century Renaissance Seeberg Castle, which hosts themed weekends, concerts and theatrical performances. South from Frantiskovy Lazne is the famous town of Cheb, with the ruins of the former royal castle and a complex of eleven merchant houses from the 13th century on its old town square. If you get tired from all of that walking, you can relax in Aquaforum, water park with recreational and swimming pools, whirlpools, saunas, and children's water slides that are located both indoor and outdoor and is opened daily.
