Warsaw is the capital of Poland, a centre of industry, education, services and art. You will find the National Theater, the National Philharmonic Orchestra and about 30 other theatres within the city. Vistula River divides Warsaw into two parts, the Old Town and Praga. Praga is a very modern and growing district with many skyscrapers, hotels, a zoo and, a Russian Market. During World war II. up to 90% of the Old Town was destroyed and had to be rebuilt again. In a long-lasting renovation, the buildings have been restored to their previous look as if they had never been destroyed and have been there for 200 years.

In the middle of the Old Town lies the Castle Square - Plac Zamkowy, which has a triangular shape and in its centre, you will find a 22-meter-high column of Sigismund III. Vasy. Thanks to him, Warsaw became the capital city of Poland instead of Krakow. However, the most beautiful square is Rynek Starego Miasta (Old Town Square) with the mermaid Syrena which is the symbol of the city. If you set out on the tallest building of the city, the Palace of Culture and Science, you will see, from a viewing platform at a height of 234.5 meters, both parts of the city. The old town was once protected by the defensive fortifications of Babakan, whose remains you can see on your way the new city of Praga. The Citadel (Cytadela in Polish), which was built in the 19th century and is located north of Praga, was not built to defend the city, but to intimidate the people of Warsaw. There are many things to do in Warsaw, from monuments, museums to relaxation and peaceful areas such as the Łazienki Park or the Wilanów Palace Complex.
