Although Křivoklát Castle has been severely damaged by fires several times, today you can admire its beauty in original form. You will find a magnificent castle chapel, the Royal and Knights' Hall with an exhibition of Gothic painting and sculpture art, a library containing an incredible 52,000 volumes of historical books, a rich Fürstenberg Museum and a picture gallery. Gentlemen will surely be interested in the famous prison and torture chamber with torture instruments. You can also enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding forests from the monumental Great Tower that also contains hunting collections.
Many interesting events take place at the Krivoklat Castle during the year, including magical night tours, concerts, theatres, musicals, film festival and many more. Each event is unique and enjoys great interest from visitors. In the courtyard of the castle, you will find a restaurant, a café and several shops. There is also a mint where you can get involved in the coinage process with the theme of Krivoklat castle or Ducat of Charles IV. Another popular activity is Kelley's Dungeon. The castle hosts seasonal exhibitions all year round.
You can also enjoy the medieval atmosphere at night excursion that includes overnight accommodation and you can choose the Gendarmerie Station, the Apartment at the Fox Bastion or the Apartment of Master Kelley.
OPENING HOURS:
The castle is open all year round, except for some selected days. It is possible to make the castle excursion available for groups of at least 15 visitors even outside the opening hours.
